"We Still Got a Lotta Boot Left to Fill..."-Eric Church

History

The Tippers were formed in 2011 by Alex Lahasky and Brad "Nelson" Phillips. The two were members of the baseball team at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas when they decided to explore the local music scene. They were fronted by JCCC catcher Mike Andries, and performed for the first time at the JCCC talent show at Yardley Hall. After the 2011 season, Andries left the band to pursue other interests in Minnesota.

Andries' departure provided Alex with the opportunity become the frontman, and Nelson slid into the full-time lead guitar position - also providing the bulk of the harmony. In the summer of 2011, the boys added Cameron Shoemaker to the band, a musical jack-of-all-trades studying music technology at Fort Hays State University. Shoemaker assumed the role of drummer/percussionist and contributed to the vocals as well.

In the summer of 2012, The Tippers welcomed bassist Sarah Lahasky. A bass performance graduate of Shenandoah University-Conservatory in Virginia, Sarah added a whole new dynamic to The Tippers' Sound.

The Tippers broke major ground in the summer of 2013 with the release of their first Studio EP: Sunflowers. The critically acclaimed 7-song EP contains songs that demonstrate The Tippers' range and is now available on all major digital formats including iTunes, Amazon MP3, and Spotify.

Also in the Summer of 2013 The Tippers turned heads in the national Texaco Country Showdown competition. The Tippers were selected as a finalist for the Lawrence competition where they won first place with guest bassist Shelby Politte. The Tippers advanced to the State Final in Goodland, Kansas where they were the runner-up, despite being the crowd favorite.

After nearly two years of work, the Tippers released their second studio album in the summer of 2015. The full length record, entitled "Highways Between Us" demonstrates growth in songwriting and musicianship. Production was headed by Cameron Shoemaker. "Highways" Joined "Sunflowers" on iTunes as well as other digital outlets.
